Very few reasons are given for this decision although some pressure groups have alleged issues arising with the use of PET in the packaging of pharmaceuticals, particularly when subjected to the high temperatures resulting from exposure to strong direct sunlight in India. There is no technically accredited research available to support these claims and Petcore Europe has written to the Indian Authorities voicing its concerns at their approach.
