In order to ensure the sustainable growth of post-consumer PET collection and recycling as well as that PET is positioned as a sustainable packaging material, the focus of our work lies on the following:

  • Organisation of public events, such as the annual Petcore Europe Conference, gathering representatives from the complete PET value chain and the EU institutions, and other specific workshops.

  • Cooperation with other related industry and associations such as brand owners, waste management organisations, the public sector and other parties interested in the purposes of Petcore Europe.

  • Communication to the public and competent authorities using the expertise of the association to provide technical and scientific information.

  • Immediate and proactive response to any concern or issue related to PET (Issues Management).

  • Bi-annual survey on collection and recycling rates of PET in Europe.

  • Working Groups, a Special Industry Group, and Projects aiming at increasing the volumes of PET recycling (PET bottles, PET thermoforms, others PET packaging such as opaque & difficult to recycle), and at developing and promoting new solutions.

  • Participating in initatives like EPBP, the European PET Bottle Platform, a voluntary industry initiative that provides PET bottle design guidelines for recycling and evaluates packaging solutions and technologies.
