SAVE the dates 18 & 19 June & Register Today to meet up with experts and PET Thermoforms industry leaders at our Thermoforms Conference 2026 “Beyond the theory, towards PPWR compliance: Real Recycling of PET trays?” that will be held in Spain, Valencia, at SH HOTEL (Paseo de la Alameda, 32, El Pla del Real, 46023 Valencia).
PETCORE EUROPE Thermoforms Working Group was launched in June 2015 and consists of more than 80 companies and organizations including key players from industry and waste management. Since then, several events have been organized to promote PET trays: online workshops on Recycling PET Thermoforms in 2019, Physical Thermoforms Conference 2023 in Italy, 2024 in Spain and in France in 2025.
PETCORE EUROPE is now focused on helping the value chain to reach the PPWR targets for collection, sorting and recycling to achieve at least the 30% recycled content for the PET thermoforms.
The first day of the event will feature presentations from all major experts in the field of thermoforms, followed by panel discussions with the guests from the industry. Also, high-level speakers will join us to explain the goals & expectations of the European Commission for the PET trays.
On the second day PETCORE EUROPE will organize a visit to AIMPLAS laboratories certified in the application of the Tray Recyclability protocols, where you can see how the circularity of thermoformed packaging is evaluated, and where packaging made with Recycled PET is evaluated for food contact.
This physical event will have a special focus on thermoforms collection and sorting of PET thermoforms as a first key step towards circularity by a demonstration exercise made with real material flow along all steps in the circularity route. We will also showcase other PETCORE EUROPE Thermoforms like Tray Circularity Evaluation Platform (TCEP) and, Standardization effort for design for recycling and recyclability evaluations in connection with PPWR. We will also discuss recyclability scoring which is provisioned in the PPWR. Additionally, it will be discussed the application of EU 20222/1616 for Functional Barrier (FB) as Novel Technology and its implications.
PETCORE EUROPE IS PLEASED TO OPEN A CALL FOR PAPERS ON INNOVATION TO IMPROVE THE THERMOFORMS CIRCULARITY. LeARN MORE.
